A

It is a nickel plated solid brass ball.

Q

What are the Cv values for valves?

A

That will vary depending on the model. For assistance in getting Cv values for specific valves, contact us.

Q

Is it necessary to dissassemble a mini-ball™ valve before soldering?

A

No, do NOT dissassemble. Leave it in the open position and aim the flame away from the center of the valve body.

Q

What are the working pressure & temperature specifications for mini-ball™ valves?

A

250 psi and 250°F. However, this is subject to lower limitations depending on the pipe type and specific end connections that are supplied on the mini-ball™ valve.

Q

Can valves be used on heating systems with a glycol & water mix?

A

Yes. valves can be used in hydronic heating systems with up to a 50/50 water/glycol mix.

Q

Can we use valves for gas or air?

A

No. The certifications and listings for valves used on gas and air systems are different than those for valves used for water.

Q

Can valves be used for fuel or petroleum products?

A

No. The certifications and listings for valves used on gas and air systems are different than those for valves used for water.  Fuels or Petroleum based substances are not compatible with seal materials.

Q

What are the working pressure & temperature specifications for your Globe/Compression Stops?

A

200 psi and 250°F.

Q

What are the working pressure & temperature specifications for your Globe Radiator and Balancing Valves?

A

200 psi and 250°F for the Regular Pattern series.

250 psi and 250°F for the Heavy Pattern series

The Heavy Pattern series also comes standard with a Hi-Temp disc and is suitable for 150 Working Steam Pressure (WSP).

Q

Are ’s Heavy Pattern Globe Radiator and Balancing Valves suitable for one pipe steam systems?

A

No, they are not equipped with a drain in the seat and will therefore not allow proper drainage of condensate.

Q

Can globe style valves be back-seated?

A

Yes. Open the valve fully (counter-clockwise) until the handle stops.

Q

Can I install a globe style radiator valve backwards on the outlet of a radiator?

A

Yes. Installers have been putting these valves “backwards” on the return side of radiators for decades with no complaints.  There is approximately a 5% degradation in the Cv value, which tends to have a negligible impact given the low flow rates of these applications.
